More false equivalence. Less than 40 people on one side of the aisle in on House of Congress created that shameful and expensive political mess. Remind you “child” when voting season comes around again, Mr. Ariail.

“In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.” – my man John Adams, but he probably would have pointed the finger at Cruz and the Tea Party, while also stomping on their pretensions to upholding the principles he fought for. Adams defended the shooters in the Boston Massacre at risk to himself and his career because it was the right thing to do. Cruz did a fake filibuster and a fake challenge that has already damaged the entire country to promote himself. No comparison.

Get real. Spending is a problem on both sides of the aisle. The Republicans controlled Congress during much of the G W Bush Administration. Did they do anything to reduce the deficit? No. They just raised the debt ceiling several times.

The vote is to open the government through January 15 and extend the debt limit through February 7. This is no way to run the largest economy in the world, holding the reserve currency. Seems they couldn’t legally defeat Obama in two elections so they effectively hamstring him with fiscal gamesmanship.
Time for a change in world order. The Chinese renminbi/yuan is a possibility, but probably yet lacks heft to be fully convertible. A basket of stable and responsible Asian, European, and North American currencies is a better bet.
This takes the U.S. out of the mix until they develop a more functioning government and proves more responsible governance.

You pretty much have that backwards. If you have bills to pay and you don’t have the revenue, the only remaining option is to borrow, which probably means the debt rises. The debt ceiling is not the problem. The debt ceiling is the product of too high spending or too low revenue. Its incredible to me Congress passes spending bills, fights wars, etc. but don’t think they have to raise the revenue. That is the sign of failed leadership and it goes back to the Bush administration, as usual.

As soon as I can find aisa, I’ll read up on it.

“…..Are you aware we have record breaking revenue, in spite of Obama’s continuing recession?……”
Impressive huh! And that’s despite attempts by the Republicans to block any successful attempts at recovery.
But, as you surely must know, balancing the budget requires managing costs and revenue.

The TEA party, destroying America for our own good.

“What specifically have Republicans done to block successful attempts at recovery?”
Surely you jest! What have they not done? I’m not going to give you a laundery list because you probably know, but any information favourable to Obama is forever locked away in the reptilian portion of your brain. Think back to, I think it was inaugoration night, when McConnell and the Republican losers met and made a pact to resist anything stimulative or positive by Obama and make him a one-term president. Reports are they were positively giddy in anticipation of the damage they could do to Obama and the nation.
