the house has passed several bills to fund different parts of gov // it passed a law to pay death benefits to the families of fallen service persons [ something already passed last september] but hairy hates USA military people and will not let it be voted for
note soc security does affect either budget or debt limit

And many of us will be angry with the president for giving up on his promises to the middle-class and majority of Americans.

Why can’t more cartoonists be intelligent enough to understand both sides in DC are out for themselves and will always put the people second to their own wants and needs? Keep up the good fight Mr. Ariail.

The House does not get to fund the parts of the government it likes. It’s job is to fund the government and that means all of the government that is backed by LAW.

While Obamas poll numbers hit an all time low.

I don’t think that’s right. Besides just because it’s a LAW doesn’t mean it’s beneficial, correct or good. Remember the Jim Crow laws the southern Democrats passed?

So the point is that Obama should get out of the way and let the GOP run them down? You’re too good a cartoonist to play the “on the one hand, but on the other” game. Next up: A cartoon that blames the Lincoln assassination in part of Booth for shooting him and in part on Lincoln for facing the stage instead of turning his chair around.

Oh goody. It’s been estimated to fund the entire government except Obamacare by passing piddly little laws that cover a few programs here or there will take 100 working days. And the congress only works three days a week, and takes long vacations. The solution is to open the government again, which would take one single vote.

So I suppose that would include funding border security….but….Obama has told his agents to NOT detain Illegals if there was “no crime” committed. Hahaha no crime….right.

So, section & of the Constitution starts of with this statement: “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills”.

Since the SCOTUS has ruled the “penalty” is in deed a “tax” then this law when it was proposed should have originated in the house. Did it?

Well. if you remember, the bill was introduced as “Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009” in the house. It passed sith no objection. I wonder why, OH could it be that the bill Rangel introduced on 9/17/2009 and was subsequently renamed by the Senate as the ACA started off with the description “To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify the first-time homebuyers credit in the case of members of the Armed Forces and certain other Federal employees, and for other purposes?” The “other purposes” was a doozy………

Yep, there is no need to READ a bill befor e you vote on it. OH YEAH once it was returned to the House changed to the ACA in the Senate it was passed BUT no republicans voted for it.

You seem to forget one thing in your opinion. The House of Representatives stands for the will of the PEOPLE while the Senate is to address the concerns of the STATE. Since we are a Democratic Representative Republic (not a “democracy”), the will of the people as voted by the representative of the people in the House rules the funding. NOT the Senate OR the President.

2014. Here’s hoping it will not be too late.

No, actually they went up and the Republican Party went to a low that has never been recorded before. Not just alltime for Republicans but for anyone since the polls started.
