Greece we can survive. It would cost Germany “only” 80 to 89 billion Euro to cover a collapse of Greece (depending on whether they stay in the Euro-Zone or go back to their old currency). But if Spain topples it’s all over. The whole financial power of all Euro-Zone states can’t keep Spain floating and Spain’s collapse would trigger the collapse of the Euro. What would happen after that is everybody’s guess, but predictions are that it will effect the U.S. as well, maybe causing a second recession. So let’s all hope Spain stays stable…

austerity still is not working. uk contracted for another quarter. spain still has 25% unemployment. all those idiots who are worried about deficits and debt by raising taxes, and cutting spending, it isn’t working.

To clarify: socialism has poisoned the world once again with Utopian promises of something for nothing.

Hey, rightsey; here’s a quote for you:
“{We must guard against} the danger that people might believe that they deserve everything and the State should solve their problems because this would reduce their ability to seek for and earn for themselves the rights and advantages that a society has to offer.”
First, do you agree with this sentiment and second, who do you suppose said it?

It is a figure of speak for those on the left, as this is what they want people to believe it will be. But yes there will be no “Utpoia” which is why it is not good. But all of the government’s assistance programs are a free for nothing proposition when it is called wellfare and foodstamps along with free healthcare. No monies to pay for those programs means that it will force the country into bankruptcy.

First I guessed Karl Marx….second I guessed it was Lord Ears.
If it was Ears, I’m not impressed, as he’s a proven and dangerous narcissist who will say anything. Example: he’s not for amnesty, yet just gave one million illegals amnesty.
If it WAS Ears, you DO know he did an illegal end run around the workfare laws of the 90s that cut welfare dependency in HALF?
Now, once again, thanks to Ears, welfare slobs can sit around and do nothing for their check.
50 million Americans on foodstamps?
ROMNEY LANDSLIDE.

socialism = you answer to government, which has dominion over your life and may revoke your ownership of any thing at any time.. One thing we do know about socialism: it always fails. Europe? QED.

Dr. - Yes I do agree with that statement, but I don’t know who said it. However, just because someone said it doesn’t necessary mean that they act accordingly. In politics, what people say and what they believe do not necessarily coincide. But of course, you already know that.

what is happening is barely austrity. But we would have to go to almost Darconian lenghts to dent the problems in the PIIGS. And a note for those who don’t read history, Darco’s code called for the Death penalty for almost every offense, even petty theft. Keep that in mind next time some one uses that word minor pay or benfit cuts.

I prefer the term Statest, since the answer to all problems for you and others is more power to the state. See Nazi and Communist for the extreme example of this. I am a classical liberal in that I beleive in the right of the Individual to be safe in his/her body and propety.

@Northern Redman
Sure. But those who define a term generally have the best understanding of what it means.
It’s the definition of socialism by Che Guevarra.
