ROFL,, NASA needs new Mission Planners.
First you have to get to the asteroid belt,,,
Next select the Asteroid,, Next Bag it,, Next get it moving
and in space Inertia is still king. Then when you get it to earth you have to stop the asteroid from crashing into earth.
Someone should get rid of those idiots.

Actually, not all asteroids are in the asteroid belt, some pass fairly close to Earth.

Why not put it on the moon? That right they have on been there.

Near Earth asteroids are a constant hazard to the planet.
There is no need to get an asteroid moving because they are always in motion, you just need to guide it.
If they can find a way to guide an asteroid into orbit around the moon, the mining prospects would be awesome.
Also an asteroid would make a dandy space craft.

And no doubt, someone is trying to figure out if an asteroid can be aimed well enough to be a weapon. It could be equal in destruction to a nuclear bomb, but without the radioactive fallout as evidence.

Since you don’t know what you are talking about, who is the idiot?

What about attaching a probe/robot to an asteroid that passes by earth every few/ten/twenty years and collect it again the next time it came around? Imagine the data, pictures it would collect during it’s time out in deep space.

This site shows a wheel spider escaping a parasitic wasp, at a speed equal to a car going 300 km an hour!

Why doesn’t NASA just send a robotic probe and get their samples? Cheaper, safer and what more do you want in a space flight?
Rolling Spider is a fascinating adaption. All the animals of the desert ride high anyway during the day.
So Pres. Tom Jefferson received visitors late and unexpectedly?

You didn’t read the panel. It says that NASA intends to tow the asteroid into a LUNAR orbit, not “get it to earth”. Anyway, B. Hussein Obama has announced that NASA is now a “Muslim outreach” program, so, it will only tow CAMELS.

Wow, I’d just heard about the wheel spider from a Vsauce video the same day.

There is no way to guide an asteroid. I wish there was since the biggest threat to mankind’s existence is probably a direct strike from an asteroid. It isn’t a matter of if just a matter of when we get hit. We are also long overdue for one. Sleep well.

It’d be great if the writers of the strip would wait, say, at least a year before regurgitating something that was on Yahoo news.Doing it the same week is just dumb and doesn’t take much skill.
