I suppose that is because bamboo is tougher to chew than seal blubber.

While Cola is very acidic, stomach acid has an even lower pH level.
So I might say, while she might have died after drinking 5000 gallons of soda in the course of 8 years, it was not the only thing that killed her. It might have been a factor, but most probably not the only one. For all we know, she could’ve been run over by a bus.
I mean… for all we know, RBION could have pulled it out of their arses. Without cites one never knows. There have been instances where featured articles by Ripleys have been proved to be false by Mythbusters and Snopes.com

I think I read an article about her. If memory serves, she also smoked cigarettes like a freakin’ fiend! And yes, I think it was her unhealthy habits that did her in and not a bus…

    5,000 Gallons/ 8 yrs = 625G/yr
    625G/yr = 1.7G/day = 2.3 cans/day

Many people drink a lot more soda than this every day. I know I have averaged at least twice that amount for the last 20+ years.

According to the article that Alexikakos gave the url for, she averaged two 20 ounce bottles of soda per day. Far from excessive.

Thanks for the link. It seems she had an “addictive personality:” she smoked a pack and a half/day,besides drinking over a gallon of Coke/day. Too bad she wasn’t addicted to healthy living and eating.

My husband, who was on dialysis, was told not to drink any cola drinks, as it could lower your potassium, and affect your bones as well.

According to my math, 1.7 gallons a day is equivalent to 18 cans of soda a day, so she was basically drinking a can every hour she was awake. I can’t imagine drinking that much…
