I know I’m tired when I try to unlock the front door with my car remote (yaaaaaawwwwnnnnnnn)!

Ok, I get the joke, but wouldn’t it be cool if they had remote control locks for the home? No fishing for keys in the dark, no trying to find the key hole with an armful of groceries. I’m sure it’s probably out there somewhere. She should program her smartphone to operate the tv, problem solved.

Someday you’ll find the TV remote inside the refrigerator

If it’s not out there already, I’ll bet that someone is working on it somewhere.

They do have remote control locks for the home. You can get the ones that come with a key fob like your car or that use your smart phone to lock and unlock them. They are even advertised on TV. The technology has been around for years. The key fob style for at least 10 years the smart phone for 3 years that I know of. The advantage of the smartphone type is that you can lock/unlock the doors remotely. If your child or neighbor calls with an issue or forgotten key you don’t even need to go home to unlock the door. The only drawback is that the door must fit in the frame perfectly summer and winter. There can’t be any of that pushing or pulling to engage the deadbolt due to temperature or humidity change.

As miscreant1 says, they are available and have been on the market for quite some time. Schlage is one of the earlier adapters to this technology…
