How much is Ramirez willing to raise taxes to support another ten-year ground war in the middle east, and the veterans who suffer from it? I suppose you can always cut the VA budget, unemployment, medical research, and fire-fighting budgets again.

The ACA and ISIS have both had a remarkable run of success at being extremely effective at what they were designed to do. But one saves lives and saves America money, the other destroys lives and costs America money. So the cartoon doesn’t particularly make sense.

Yet another low in bad conservative cartooning (thanks, Harley, for helping to spread the lies). There is zero — zero — evidence that ISIS is in, or even has plans to come through Mexico, as the intelligence agencies have told congress twice in the past week. Just because Republicans are demagoguing the issue doesn’t make it true. And no one is claiming that we’re trying to stop Ebola to keep it from coming here. There is almost zero danger of ebola in a country with a modern health-care system. The effort is humanitarian.

There was a very depressing article in the NYT yesterday, interviewing a bunch of voters in Kentucky. Many of the ones whose lives have literally been saved by the ACA are going to vote for Mitch (who has vowed to tear the ACA out “root and branch”) because they hate Obama so much, and because they don’t think their beloved Kynect is part of “Obamacare.”

Obama HAS created a coalition. It even includes Arab states, which is hugely important. It took three days, and the conservatives ran out of patience, and since they don’t actually care about facts, they’re pretending he hasn’t. Charles Krauthammer had a long column with the same lies in it as this cartoon, published in my paper yesterday.

The GOP has had six years to demonstrate that the complete destruction of the presidency of Barack Obama is the only goal they have. There is simply nothing — nothing! — that they are offering as policy that would help America or its citizens. They cannot act on the economy, on transportation, on climate, on immigration, on equal pay, on worker safety, on international affairs, on the VA, on highways, on fire-fighting, on Medicare, on health care.

Poverty would be far, far worse without the War on Poverty. If you ever heard an economist, you’d know that. And the War on Women is in the GOP senate, as demonstrated most recently just yesterday by the 100% party-line filibuster of the Fair Pay Act.

And this time they’ll get screwed by using a currency that is controlled by a country to the south. And a country to the south that will become more conservative because of Scotland’s exit, which greatly increases the risk of “voodoo” economic chaos. It doesn’t look like a good plan to me.

It’s the NFL management, not the media, that’s been cutting football players slack.

Yep. Paul Krugman has pointed out how dangerous it would be for Scotland to remain on the British pound — Spain found out the pitfalls of having a currency that your government cannot control to initiate recovery from economic slumps. The Euro gave conservatives in other countries the power to destroy Spain’s labor force, and giving it a double-dip recession, all in the name of “austerity.”
