Blessed are the cracked, for it is they who let in the light.

What fun! You have ‘outdone’ yourselves today! Eggcellent if I may say so.

@keltii, I enjoyed your comments about your trip. You should not have been flagged.

@ bmonk, thank you for the link. A wonderful story. I know little ones who will enjoy it as well.

@ Lewreader, Nope, the soap trick does not work. I lived with my grandparents a lot of the time as a child. My grandmother was forever putting soap in my mouth for saying things she did not like. The soap did little to curb my tongue. It was not malicious behavior on my part, “stuff” would just slip out that she did not like…. walks off chuckling at the memory (she is long gone to her reward and I miss her)…. BTW, it was Ivory! Very yucky.

Guess I am showing my age, but we would have received a free trip to the wood shed if we had used that tone with our folks… You have to admire the gumption of a six year old that can look his mother in the eye and say that.

@GretchensMom: Your daughter is very lucky.

@bmonk: I have not read “Velveteen Rabbit”, but I will do so. Thanks for t he tip. I am glad your sister and “Punkey” were more fortunate.

I seldom have time to comment, however, I do enjoy all of yours, and visiting this page is a quiet respite that I enjoy. I am glad I found it.

Being a relatively new Calvin & Hobbes fan, I have not seen most of the strips. I am interested to know the outcome of this one. Will Hobbes fur be normal after his soak?

You see, I had a stuffed tiger when I was 6. It was my most favorite possession. One day my mother made a comment that it was dirty and needed to be thrown out. I overheard this and was quite upset. So I gave my beloved a bath with a wash cloth and soap. Needless to say the fur was ruined and he looked awful. I was heartbroken. Soon after that my pet disappeared never to return, though I looked and pleaded in vain….

Perhaps that is why I took so long to warm up to Calvin and Hobbes. The snowman figures brought me round, though … I received a couple in an email, and was instantly a fan…

Hobbes could save him if he jumped out there and held onto Calvin when they hit…. you know tigers have springs and bouncy, bouncy…. oops! that’s pooh…. I think you may be out of luck here, Calvin… just tuck and roll, you’re a tough lil guy…

    Godspeed, Yukoner…

If Dad were to go look, the ‘Man in the Moon’ would not make faces. What an impression Calvin makes… even on the moon. ;)

Mom’s just have that special look they put on when they let you know you have reached the end of the line. A wise child will heed that look. Calvin is brave but knows when it is time to retreat.
