Can you look at that new year baby in panel 2 and think good thoughts?

Now that I think about it, that’s a really good question! Maybe I should rephrase my statement, but I’m too lazy to think that hard. ;)

I remembered this question had been asked recently so I back tracked to find it. Found it on Dec. 6th’s strip, answered by jimmionzz.

The guy is Mr. Sputter. He and his wife often look after Nancy if Aunt Fritzi has to be out of town. Fantagraphics has published the first three volumes of a projected complete Bushmiller “Nancy,” so the years from 1943 through 1951 are available in beautifully made book form.

I agree. Just the other day my husband chided me for not being familiar with something he’d seem on a tv commercial because I “sit all day at the computer”. My response was “so I should sit in front of the boob tube all day watching commercials and reruns?” I don’t think so! I see most of the things advertised on tv in a side bar somewhere anyway.
Besides, unless you’re watching something recorded so you can pause it any time, it’s really hard sometimes to keep up with the closed captions. And all comics are “close captioned”. LOL

Looking again at the picture, the two assumed screws flying in the forth panel could actually be the pins and he used the screwdriver as a wedge to pry them out. If he removed the screws there would be more than two.

I thought the hinge pieces were fastened to the door and the door jam with screws and the two hinge pieces were held together with pins so the door could swivel.

Looks like 2015 is going to be a bad year…again.

Not a different artist, Greg has always done the drawing of Luann. It was just his style back then, not showing adults. IIRC it was several years before he started drawing Frank and Nancy fully into the strip. Several artists have used this technique, I believe Peanuts was one of the strips like that. I know there are others, just can’t think of them right now.
