If she calls you a little squirrel, she’s not worth buffing up for.

Great spoof! Even down to kicking a twig instead of a chair!

agreed, number six!….those ubiquitous Charles Atlas ads seemed to be everywhere 40 and 50 years ago, notably on the back page of comic books….I’m wondering what exactly it was that was being marketed…a publication about strength building exercises, no doubt.

the back page of comic books ,as memory serves, also hawked the ‘giant treasure chest of army men’ that went into detail of all various types of army men and their equipment.
Bazookamen! Machine gunners! mine sweepers! Artillery! the mine boggled at all the cool stuff ….and, if you were so inclined to actually send in the 5 bucks, the giant treasure chest later came in the mail in a box about the size of 3 × 5 card—and the armymen were tiny little 2 dimensional molded plastic figures that had to be pushed into their tiny little bases to enable them to stand—a child’s first lesson in misleading advertising

OH! Poor Nighthawks, it was the X-Ray glasses that got me. It seems like it took months to get to me.

At least you learned the lesson for only $5.00. That lesson would cost so much more today.

I was a little girl and fell for the stamp collection ads. Sooo disappointing.

The sign should read, “Will work for steroids”.

Now that he’s a man, all Squiggles can do is beg on the streets since he didn’t go to trade school.

I ordered the throw your voice device. It turned out to be a piece of metal (this WAS 1965, after all), wrapped in string. Lesson learned.

Somebody remembers a series of cartoon shorts that appeared among the saturday morning cartoon bars, maybe on ABC instead of the School House Rock shorts, don´t remember, about how people got riped off their money? Just remember a group of ugly people with money bills in their hands at the start, and then the short. The only one I remember is about a kid saving to mail order a yacht, dreaming himself at sea on it, and receiving only a little toy ship.
Any tip on the name of the shorts so I can look for them? Where goverment ads or network´s.?

Five dollars was a fortune to a kid in the sixties!

    Me, too!
I had a LIST of girls to use them on!
Of course, there wasn’t much to see considering the girls and I were about 12 years old!
