Looks like the hydrant is underground also. Sloppy drawing?

I thought that was the idea, a very private underground hydrant.

He just can’t over the bury-it thing, can he? We had a tree at the end of our front walk that was a canine bulletin board. Every dog that passed inspected it then left a message, and our dogs made a bee-line for it the minute they were out of the house. The village had to cut that tree down, and it will be years before its successor is a satisfactory message carrier. Poor dogs!

An underground hydrant would be boring, no messages to “read”.

A hydrant is a giant dog newspaper.

Dogs will scent wherever there is another dog’s scent. It doesnt matter whether there is a hydrant or a tree.
