I have never attended a church where the cemetery was in the church yard.
My father pastored a country church where there was a cemetery on the adjacent property.
The church’s name was “Washington Assembly of God” and the grave yard was “Washington Community Cemetery.”
But, the church didn’t own the cemetery. Both of the properties were donated by a Cherokee woman whose last name was Falling. Those two plots of land were a part of her land allotment.

My in-laws are buried in their churches’ cemetery on the same property in rural northeast Georgia (although the cemetery isn’t QUITE as close to the church as the one in this comic!).

My mother’s funeral was Friday. As I said to many of my friends I saw at the visitation or the funeral, you know you’re getting old when your social events are funerals.
