    Violet was definitely Lucy’s mentor in many ways, but she was never as loud as Lucy.

    Don’t worry Violet, people will be glad to see you go too. I guess Sparky was, in a way—Violet didn’t get much strip-time.

    Her final appearance in the strip was on the 12th of November 1996, but she ceased to be a regularly seen character in the late 60s. The last occasion on which she is addressed by name is on the 30th of January 1973.

    Patty was no joy, either – not Peppermint Patty, the first Patty who usually hung with Violet.

    Violet did grow up , never left the neighborhood and became known as “that crazy cat lady”. ; )

    I guess Lucy gave good ‘ol CB enough grief that Violet and Patty weren’t needed for that purpose. And by the time Peppermint Patty and Marcie arrived, there wasn’t a lot of room for two other female characters who were basically “Lucy-lite.”
