I think the mercy rule would come into play here. Of course, the other team might have made those 123 runs in the first 4 innings.

One consolation: The opposing players have got to be worn out after rounding the bases 14 times each.

It’s because your all-star shortstop was flying a Sopwith Camel.

We used to get regular Peanuts films in the UK. Then, for some unknown reason, they just stopped being scheduled. Some mindless tv scheduler at work I suppose.

That’s why they have a 10 run rule CB. Perhaps they didn’t have it way back when this strip was original, but these days if a team goes up by 10 runs, the home team gets a final at bat and then its over (if there are at least 4 innings).

If the Astros can win their opening game against the Rangers, it seems like Charlie Brown could win one once in a while.

Charles Schulz sent me the autographed original of this strip some 47 years ago. Collector bought it from me in 2005.

Reminds me a bit about the 1962 Mets. When they eventually had a victory it was by the score 19-1. When told that the Mets scored 19 runs the question was, “Great! Did they win?”

This remained a joke until a spring training game mayny years later between them and the Red Sox. The Mets went into the top of the 9th leading 19-13; they wound up losting 19-23.

We cant manage that many. We have a hundred or so but many are the same channel shown an hour later or are so pointless that they officially have viewing figures of zero. All those programmes and movies lying in the vaults that the mindless ones refuse to show. Pathetic isn’t it?
