    Notice that in the last panel Snoopy uses a speech balloon instead of the thought bubble his dialogue is usually in. This suggests he actually spoke the words out loud. I believe, though, that this was actually an error on Schulz’s part. I noticed it in 1966 when this first ran and watched to see if it was repeated. I don’t think it ever was.

    Also, this first time he was shot down the doghouse is not riddled with bullet holes. Thus begins the most iconic sequence in the history of comics. Stay tuned, gang.
