    Peanuts is the most violent of all the comic strips/Cartoons. More than Popeye and that’s exaggerated. I was flipping channels and they had on one of the Films maybe one with Snoopy or summer in the title and what I saw was just kids getting the cr** kicked out of them. Man, I feel bad for Schulz except for his fling with the Tracy chick and feeling great about being with her after he told his Lucy that he dumped her, just based on his strip and animations he didn’t seem to be so happy. Oh well maybe he has made it to heaven and gets to kick the football and fly the kite forever.

    @Donny Wallace

    Thanks! That explains a LOT about this strip. I’ve NEVER liked it except for Snoopy. If it weren’t for Snoopy, I’d never read it.

    Hey, I think that little blue bird must be Stupid’s grandpa from Lil’s place…And yes Donny, I also saw how depressed Schulz seemed to have been…(sad)…but he was the best cartoonist…and yes I loved Snoopy best and Woodstock…

    I never have understood why Peanuts was so popular as a comic strip — ‘funny like a crutch’! It’s like beating yourself over the head with a hammer because it feels so good when you stop!

    Snoopy could just fly him there on his Sopwith Camel

    With all the ‘Peanuts’/Shulz fandom here, I’m surprised by what I just read above. Not that any of it is relevant to me.

    I think I like all the characters with the exception of Peppermint Patty. Too bad Patty was dropped for her. Snoopy is also my foavorite though.

    The motor of the strip is Charlie Brown, clearly an analog for Charles Schulz, and his futile quest for friendship, acceptance and love. The very first strip showed a girl hitting him in the eye for no reason.

    The strip is violent, to be sure, but that’s in line with comics historically. Check out Krazy Kat. Check out the Katzenjammer Kids. And that’s just the K’s.

    Well, if you have nothing nice to say about Peanuts, then please don’t post anything at all and spare us your attitude since a fair number of us have grown up reading Peanuts and watching the cartoons, and we ENJOY them.

    Then why do you read it, if you dislike it so much?

    According to Wikipedia, this bird is indeed the proto-Woodstock.
