CB’s dad was therefore most likely in the Korean War.

Or WWII? Charlie is already a few years old when the strip starts in Oct 1950. Korea only got going June 1950.

If the characters aged normally, many of the males would have been of draft age by now. Charlie’s dad would have been a WWII veteran for him to have been born before 1950. I think the reason why Charlie can’t remember which war his dad was in was to make it seem like Charlie could be 8 to 10 years old at this time.

Schulz allowed the characters ages to be vague – otherwise, how could Linus be in the same class as Charlie Brown (should be a few years younger) or Charlie Brown be in the same class as Violet, who was about a year older than Charlie Brown.
