If ever there is an iconic comic strip, it is Peanuts. What began in the funny pages in 1950 has developed into an enduring classic. Whether you're persnickety like Lucy, a philosopher like Linus, a joyous Flying Ace like Snoopy, or a lovable underdog like Charlie Brown, there is something to touch your heart or make you laugh in Peanuts.

Let’s hear it for the long and forgotten Charlotte Braun

Charlette Braun is good for a few laughs. Unfortunately, one soon exhausts the possible jokes. That is why she recedes so fast into the back ground where she is seldom seen and never heard.

This strip introduces a female counterpart to Charlie Brown named Charlotte Braun. The character was best known for her booming voice. (Lucy would later gain this trait.) Charlotte rarely appeared in the strip. I believe she completely dissolved from the cast after a storyline a few months later.
Schulz wrote a response to a letter written by a fan regarding Charlotte Braun. In his response, Schulz confirmed that Charlotte was literally killed off; she was given “the ax”.
