Proof that not all intelligence is intelligent.

That one could be smart enough to know how the sun works well enough to duplicate it on a certain scale yet dumb enough to pan it as a power source and use it to destroy life…we are really smart farts.

A-Bomb 1945, runaway Castle Bravo H-bomb 1954, SETI Nov 1961, near nuclear war Oct 1962, MAD, 1990s nuclear winter. Other stars are just a few decades away. Why don’t we hear anything from other planets? There has to be intelligent life like us out there.

We can’t duplicate fusion yet, so why not use solar which is nuclear and cleaner and essentially free?

Maybe they are so intelligent they use means of communication we have no idea of.

The big joker in the deck there is your word “essentially.” “Essentially” = “Not.” It still costs more to produce than you get it out of, both economically and energy-wise, same problem as with hydrogen. And it just doesn’t make enough. Solar might make a nice emergency backup for the home, but that’s the about the extent of its potential.

As for alien communication, you may be right, they may have something like Star Trek’s “subspace radio” communication, but it’s hard to believe that any civilization would NOT go through a phase without something as basic and simple as radio. You would think we’d have picked up something by now, no matter how old.

The score remains firmly fixed at:
    Earth: 1
    Rest of the Universe: 0

I think we will starve ourselves or overpopulate ourselves or over-pollute ourselves before we blow ourselves up, thanks to corporate greedheads and their political puppets.
