OK Senator says he’ll vote for it Federal relief for his state only if cost cuts elsewhere.
No more on credit card for the grandchildren to pay.

Maybe that Senator’s salary and benifits should be cut to cover OK state aid? Not very likely is it?

This is just the type of hate filled slander that the president uses to divide the country. You should refrain from denigrating your fellow citizens by using a sexual slur to name them.

That being said, tell me how the federal “relief” efforts are going in NY. Is the government helping or hindering families trying to rebuild?

Disaster relief is one of the areas where public funds should be utilized. Providing F-16 to Egypt not so much. The US “gave” four of them as well as 200 Arams Tanks. An “aid package”. So let’s see. A new F-16 is about 17 million, a new tank about 5 million. Total value? 1.7 Billion.

How many hurricane disasters or tornado rebuilds can you get for 1.7 billion bucks?

And that is just one “aid package”.

Moot point. The small amount that is required for Oklahoma is already in the FEMA budget.

Exactly. There will not be a Bill needed by Congress, which is a good thing, since they won’t be able to use a tragedy to ram through their pet projects like they tried(and partially did) with Sandy.

The red states are the 47% who don’t pay their fair share.

Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn said this on television. If Oklahomans themselves can use these funds effectively, good for them! Ohio recently had major storm damage – President Obama immediately contacted Republican Governor Kasich, who thanked him and then ensured effective use of those funds. And both were remarkably free of petty political sniping.

Sniping is done by those not emotionally involved with the disaster.

I’m with you 100% in your critique of war spending, but nor your initial comment. Precisely what “hate filled slander” has the President employed? This is the kind of displacement that the right wing uses continually, attributing to Obama and the Democrats the kind of disgraceful behavior that they themselves exhibit on a daily basis.

The most radical “red states” are in both “tornado Alley”, and coincidentally the “bible belt”. They’re also, mostly, the states that get the most back from the federal government, and pay the least in, much of it comes back for “storm relief” on a regular basis for those tornadoes and hurricanes.

The most radical “conservatives” are also the loudest to proclaim “take care of yourself” and first and loudest in line to ask for more if THEY need, or merely want it. Defense spending is a classic example of federal spending that doesn’t even get recorded as a handout, but check out where most of our bases, and contractors, are located.

The red states are the non or under payers, blue states are over payers, I live in one of those.

Sen Coburn wants any federal aid that will be going to the victims of the tornado, to be offset from other spending.

Is Coburn going to get the so-called “Offsets” to pay for the Tornado damage from money that would have gone to Oklahoma or from Federal Dollars allocated to other states?
