Skippy, “you are a moron! No one in the NRA, has any compassion for the victims of this terrible tragedy.” Or any other gun related mass murder. Your willingness to believe that this bill “was the possibility that it would lead to a universal gun registry making it possible for our government to confiscate our guns,” simply demonstrates how out of touch with reality the pro-gun nuts are. First off do you really think the government, even with all of the military and drones could possibly confiscate all guns, at once? When that impossible delusional scenario started you don’t think the people would band together is large enough groups to effectively fend off the government and start a second Civil War? It’s still just so much fear-mongering to further an indefensible agenda by the pro-gun nuts.

I’ve said it before but it doesn’t seem to sink into the thick skulls of the deranged, Every right brings with it responsibility. Every great right brings evengreater responsibility.

All the No Responsibility Allowed works to do is make sure its membership can avoid those responsibilities. And every other great right enumerated in the Bill of Rights has rational, reasonable restrictions placed on them, responsibilities added to the rights because society changed and chose to abuse those rights in ways that the Founding Fathers could not fathom and when they wrote the Constitution and its Bill of Rights.

Typical socialist, believes in collective guilt, but not individual responsibility. One person, and one person only, bears the responsibility for the shooting at Sandy Hook.

Yup. That person is the NRA since the SCOTUS says that corporations are people. And what does socialism have to do with guns?

Skip, then the problem is our governments less than good public image…..
I disagree, BUT, our government can improve…
And I could have improved as a worker many years ago, and we all can improve, IMO, except you, mister high and mighty…and self righteous anti-government…..CTer…
I for one do trust our government, much more so than private enterprise and big business and people in general – many cannot be trusted.
Government is far from the only one..
And, we do need a national gun registry…
    The constitution be damned !

NRA had nothing to do with Newtown massacre. I wish people would read, listin and use critical thinking.
I am a member of NRA yet I can sympathize with families. Our son died from a gun too.

I am and know literally hundreds of members of the NRA. They are an absolute rainbow of occupations, race and culture. My G.P. (doctor) is a long distance bench rest shooter and would be the first to take issue with your remark. I do as well. I realize you are rebutting “skipcarlsen’s” remark but you are really over the top in your assertion. I am personally offended by remarks as such and just categorize them in the ranting/hater category. FWIW the bill in question was hurriedly written and was a political compromise rather than a well thought out and functional solution to the problem. I favor background checks but after reading the legislation could see many areas that attempted to appease the gun rights group that were badly written and were weak in definition of database issues. “MikeFive” also pointed out some areas of the bill that would actually weaken the regulations involving gun dealers. I don’t always agree with the NRA’s position on issues, including this one. I do however have great respect (and experience) with their training and safety programs that are second to none.

I generally try not to get personal in my remarks and but this to me is just one step above vulgar base insults.

“A majority of we American abhor the actions of 45 craven trolls who failed the country and it’s people and we have no such fears as you weak willed cowardly gunlovers profess.”

I am neither weak willed or cowardly, but I am an avid target shooter and gun owner. When you do the math you might remember that when the vote was so close it should tell you that you may not have such an absolute overwhelming majority. I supported this bill but still find your remarks repugnant. I live in California and we have almost the strictest gun laws in the country. All this name calling and insults have one bottom line effect: they harden people into their positions and make compromise neigh on impossible.

I know this cartoon appeals to the prurient interests of many on this board, but I for one think it is just completely lacking in taste and find it demeaning to the children of Newtown. Why not just show him with his pants down around his ankles pooping? Too graphic? I guess the disappointing results of the vote on the gun control bill was just too much for Szep to bear.

If we continue down this path we can just turn this “dialog” in a rabid junior high cut-low session and not even make a pretense at civility.
