Phoenix wasn’t the best. A friend of my son’s had problems with an ex-wife and the idiots let her attorney’s get his service dog taken.

Much to my surprise and chagrin, Sheriff Arpaio, yes, that nut, actually stepped up, took the dog, and got it back to him! So even the craziest may do some things right?

But still, I’ve been satisfied that far more in VA than the Pentagon are on the side of our troops.

Perhaps you could consider that MOST people are at heart decent human beings?

Left or Right have no “lock” on good, or evil.

Just b/c the Sheriff is conservative, does NOT mean he isn’t a decent human being.

We are all capable of doing good, or bad…politics should never trump decency.

The Secretary of VA is a veteran himself without a leg he lost in Viet Nam…no one want to serve the veterans more…it is the SES (Senior Executive Service) people who did not serve that are the problem.

The problem is the budget. The VA is constantly trying to cut corners. I have been trying to get an appointment in cardiology and urology departments for almost a year. No luck so far.

We’ll all be dealing with that soon enough with Obamacare.

Although I dislike the term “death panel”, the euphemism, “resource allocation board”, is not any better. My normal pragmatism sort of breaks down in this area. I abhor the probable necessity of such groups to exist, be it VA or PPACA or other areas.Oh well, c’est la vie, que sara sara, etc. There’s not much you can do when resources are not unlimited.

Have you followed the Sheriff’s career? He’s not just conservative. He apparently believes himself to be an instrument of vengeance.

I’m trying to envision an ex-wife, no matter how disgruntled or how much she loved the dog, who would have the turpitude to take a service dog from someone who needed it.

Simple solution, fire all the featherbed merchants and hire only those who have served.

mikefive: when my son told me what happened, I realized again that outside perhaps Congress, divorce attorneys are the worst scum of the Earth. The claim was their kid “missed the dog”, and her lawyer was a putz. The VA staff just screwed up, as did the sheriff’s deputy who went in to get the dog. (Which was how Joe could step in.)

Also btw, the dog was acquired for the guy by the Wounded Warrior Project!!
