Every bureaucracy in the world — governments at all levels, churches, unions, the military, corporations, sports leagues, non-profit organizations, large families, communes and collectives, circuses, criminal enterprises, you name it — EVERY bureaucracy contains a few mean-spirited people in petty authority who abuse that authority to lord it over those within their power.

Riiight, the people who say they don´t want to pay taxes are the “honest and ordinary” :D.

I have personally found it FAR easier (and even more kind and compassionate) to deal with the IRS than ANY in the private financial sector!!
Perhaps the seemingly little known fact that those in the governmental service (and that includes the employees of the IRS) are also generally middle class taxpayers themselves might also be pertinent here?

You misrepresent the whole argument of “Taxed Enough Already” when you say “they don’t want to pay taxes”. The issue is the Federal Gov’t is bringing in record amounts of tax dollars, but they just can’t prioritize with what they have and cut waste and pork. They just keep asking for more and more.

We already disliked the uber wealthy and their tendency to do as they like. We were just happy to elect an intelligent, well spoken, President who had actually been poor and had read more then a book; A President who knew what the rest of us are going through because he’d been there and had made his way up without his daddy’s help.

The toon makes a good point. The IRS can’t afford to go head-to-head with General Electric’s thousands of accountans and attorneys who do nothing but shave tax bills. And even if they could, they’re also facing laws that were bought by their lobbyists.

It’s inevitable that these fake “social welfare” organizations will soon be staffed the same way. If the Koch Bros fund accountants and attorneys for teabagger groups, the IRS will have to counter. But with what?

Are you confusing the 51% who pay no income taxes with those who don’t want to be taxed to death so that 51% will vote for Dems in order to avoid income taxes? And I thought Biden said everybody needed to have skin in the game?

Liberal middle class taxpayers. Except for Geitner, of course. He’s rich and pays no taxes unless forced to when he’s caught.

This wasn’t an “investigation” of the Tea Party, this was an illegal abrogation of conservative organizations ability to obtain, legally, tax exempt status. During the same time period consevative organizations were thusly harrassed, liberal organizations’ tax exempt status requests had greased skids and shot through the system without a hitch.

Care to provide examples of “hate” from any of the organizations or people you cite? And, remember, disagreeing with your politics is NOT hate.

Was that Bush appointee the one who ran the department that abused the conservative organizations?

    Don’t think so….

Some of you people need to get some experience with the tax people in other countries. In Italy, they routinely expect companies to lie, so they double the taxes companies are expected to pay. The company and the government then negotiate a mutually acceptable middle ground.
    .
A GE executive was not aware of this practice and filed the correct taxes they owed, and Italy doubled it. GE was then doomed to pay more taxes than they owed, no matter what kind of negotiations they entered. The executive was replaced.
    .
Of course, GE went on to avoid paying any taxes whatsoever in the U.S., so it all balances out.
