I think Louie wants more from the fridge than just a cool breeze.

Yup. And that’s why you’ll never find me complaining about the heat. Winter is much worse.

I think you can fit at least 6 of those rodents in the freezer and still close the door. It’ll save on energy costs. ;-)

    Good morning, Crew!

I love my landlords. (They were friends before I moved into their basement.) They got a new central air system installed last Friday, and it’s been sick! We went from 32C in the basement the week before, to 20C yesterday at 2pm. I love it.

Of course, with the door open like that, the compressor is going to be working overtime… which means it’ll be pumping out a lot of heat. It’ll feel cool in front of the door, but in the long run, the temperature in the room will go up!

Yeah, I remember the “icebox” with a hole in the porch so the guy could put the block of ice in it from outside. And, stoves with pilot. Our stove is 42 years old, 4 standing pilots, wife will never part with it, 40" and when power went out few years ago we could cook. And, we remember the knife sharpener man that would walk the street and the rags and iron man, plus. Good memories, good days. Patriotic days.
When in Virginia visiting wife’s family the ice man came and brought ice so we could have home made vanilla ice cream……and we all took turns churning. Aaaaaah….

Wow, did I know you? Were you one of my playmates? I remember my mother telling me not to eat the ice, it was dirty, well duh! and my grandma had a wood stove, she would start the oatmeal at nite and in the morning we would dig out a portion and take it outside to pick raspberries on it. No fridge, just a cold cupboard. In Europe? nope in Portland Oregon in the 40s. We also chewed tar from the re-ruffer’s tank whenever a roof was getting repaired. Now that couldn’t be good!

I was born in the late 40’s, don’t remember the ice box. But, my father said they had an electric refrigerator and when it came on it was so loud I would just about jump out of his arms. Stoves w/pilot lights, the ragman. Also a man coming around selling children’s shoes. He would measure your feet first. Remember the ice cream man on bicycle pulling a cart? Ahhh…memories.
