How about having to buy a king size bed…to accommodate two 90# Labs…………..while the two dog beds are collecting dust.
    Good early morning Crew…………………..

We got a puppy a long time ago. When he was very young he needed a boost to get on the bed. As he grew he was able to get up with one leap. As he aged further it was back to giving him an assist again. Life cycle of a dog

Our two dachshunds become organic back warmers as soon as my wife or I lie or sit down on the couch, immediately wedging themselves between us and the back of the couch.

My cats circle me whenever I’m sick. Not completely sure they’ve got my best interests at heart.

That’s why I stick with smaller dogs, the fit’s tight enough with scotties.

It was 20 years ago next month we got our first dachshund puppies, Hildy and Lindy. I still remember the morning that July when my wife’s voiced groaned out from the bedroom, “Jerry – Hildy’s learned a new trick!” She had developed enough leg strength to jump on the bed. For a few weks I just had to open the door for Hildy, later Lindy, to get Kathy up. Then “your wake-up dogs” started just curling up and napping instead.

Later in Lindy’s life (Hildy left us at 14) a firend gave us some steps to get up there. Lindy never really figured out how to use them before joining Hildy at 17, but boy her younger siblings have! Now if Harley (whom we adopted at n unknown advanced age) could figure out how to get down!

About 14 year ago, my Chow mix and I had moved alone to Las Vegas. I came down with the worst case of flu I’d ever had. I staggered home from work, and passed out on the bed. 12 hours later, I woke up and my 45 lb dog was draped over me, protecting me. He never whined to go out, or messed the house…I was so proud of him. He’s been gone over two years now, and I still miss him.
