There needs to be some kind of indicator that tells the listener that the speaker is switching to a different language. It can be very confusing when multiple languages are being spoken and no one knows when the others are switching. It lends itself to the politician very well. When caught in an obvious contradiction they can can just say they switch to different language and you misunderstood what they were attempting to communicate.
My most misunderstood moment was in Bulgaria at a restaurant the waitress ask if I wanted a refill on my drink and I nodded yes, she walked away. I forgot that the head gestures are reversed in Bulgaria a nod is No and a shake is yes.

    “And what’s the cat’s name?”
    “Sue.”
    “Sue?”
    “Si!”
