    Ruthie, Nerves…
    Joe, Neck…
    Mom, both… and a stain in the rug, to boot…

    Notice that at this point at least the kid fight is either not noticed or being ignored.

    Oh, it’s noticed, alright… it’s just that after all this time, the… priorities …for Ellen are stain removal first (especially if it’s a real “setter”), and then the kids… LOL!

    Even more so since this stain has sat so long, because of Ruthie trying to cover it up… this strip really relates those little situations well… and the line of dialogue between them in the last panel? Such comedy gold!…

    He was doing well with the lyrics until he tried to rhyme “car” with “song.”

    In today’s strip at Creators.com, we see the most unrealistic surname ever to appear in OBH.

    He wasn’t trying to rhyme “car” with “song.” “Car” is a spoken aside. Think the theme song to “The Beverly Hillbillies.”

    @Tom Flapwell

    And in addition to what KasparV said, the part where he spoke about the car was the speaking part, not part of the main lyrics (it’s almost sort of like a “footnote”, and is supposed to be all a part of trying to “depict” a singing style that would seem to fit the Clampetts)…. as also mentioned, note the “Ballad Of Jed Clampett” as sung in the “Beverly Hillbillies” opening, and even closing…..

    Also “song” doesn’t rhyme with “nerves.” C’mon, Ruthie, play along.

    The baby powder absorbed most of the stain. It should come out. No problem

    The closing of which I provided above, although I left out the words “Hillbilly, that is”.
