    Earl’s cousin is visiting. (Earl wears glasses and is profoundly interested in all kinds of vacuum cleaners.

    Art of any kind is in the eyes of the beholder.

    SUSAN, you never can tell when a tyke will speak like a collegian. See Gracie, Edison Lee and Calvin for starters.

    Of course, it’s something of a comic strip tradition for kids to talk like adults, but that rarely happens in OBH. Maybe adults talk to Ruthie like an adult in order to encourage her maturity.

    Or maybe the adults talk to children because other adults don’t want to listen to them :)

    Those are comic strip kids. Know any real ones that talk like that?

    And he is addressing a verbal habit that annoys me greatly: the overuse of a certain word.

    Please let me know the moment that happens? I’d be very interested to know how a fictional character in a comic strip can participate in something that happens in the real world?

    @Tom Flapwell

    That is recommended over “baby talk” which is what I do. I don’t use baby talk.
