    What Ruthie did might be looked upon as not being nice to her friends or her father clever though it was.

    Okay, the newish regular character is named Verna. In an era of bizarre birth names, I would challenge you to find some child in your area with that name. One of my childhood friends had that name. It’s the feminine version of Vernon. And my friend dropped it in favor of her middle name as soon as she could get away with it.

    At least she thanked her daddy.

    While not as popular as in the early 1900’s, a few are still given that name. Using that name in this strip since 2003 hasn’t made much of a difference, if any.

    And in case you’re wondering, it’s due to the contractual deal that GoComics has with creators.com.

    Even the puppet feels bad for James in today’s strip.

    My cousin named her son Horace, there’s an old name I never thought I’d see resurface. He’s named after his dad who is much older than my cousin.

    @QuietStorm27

    In my writings I have a character named Horace. Horace Collins, adventurer who brought strange artifacts back from Antarctica in the 1920’s.
