The Book of Job is too philosophical book for kids of those ages to study. Stick to Genesis, Exodus and Judges.

Bl00dy’s in the bible, Bl00dy’s in the book, Bl00dy came to my house and taught me how to cook. I Remember cook saying this after she told me off for swearing and I pointed out that adults swore.
Bl00dy’s also what people will be if they say effin and jeffin/ or the f-bomb

Some ancient language had a swear word pronounced “wah.”

Most Jewish kids begin their Bible education with the Book of Leviticus.
I can’t understand why; the first chapters go into gruesome detail about the animal sacrifices performed by the Children of Israel.
It’s the sort of thing that would make the kids say, “Ewww! Gross!” and swear off the Bible altogether!

England seems to have different ones.

Yes with all of the “begatting” going on they should understand that at their age.

The Bible isn’t a book for children, just hard core violence addicts who like rape and torture with their gore.

Bloody is one of the more seriously frowned on curses in England. Please don’t ask me why, because I have never known.

@bevgreyjones
Because it’s a reference to a womans Menestration period.

Bev and Bad, I think it’s taboo because it refers to the blood shed by Jesus when he was whipped by the Romans, who then crucified him, shedding more blood.
I think Job (whose real name was Ayoob, which is Booya spelled backwards) is a good book for children to read and hear. If God and Satan argued about you, what would they say?
In my case, probably; What a loser.

It is blasphemous because it derives from “By Our Lady”…

@Badfisherman
It originally derived from “By Our Lady” and was a serious curse.

@Chikuku
Although the word ‘blood’ appears, the swear-word has nothing to do with blood. It was a much more serious curse as I have written above, and frowned on particularly by the Roman Catholic Church..

Thanks for the fascinating round-table on the etymology, people.
