I don’t really go with Granddad on this one. It is completely evident from every reference to Buggy that Ruthie is not an unwilling recipient of Buggy’s attention. Lothario is true enough. How many six year olds have you met who hit on their girl friend’s mother? And it’s James who is headed for the Big House, one way or another.
