This strip would qualify as merely cute, if we hadn’t learned that Buggy really is an obnoxious little SOB. Presumably it is the obnoxiousness of Buggy and James that attracts Ruthie. So if there’s a “problem”. . . This is the sort of relationship where if Buggy called, Ruthie would demand he stop bothering her, and if he didn’t call, she would call him and demand to know why he was ignoring her. Setting aside the analysis, the strip is still cute, and Mom is handling things just fine.

Ruthie is a good girl and she tries to be good to others. But Buggy lives up to his nickname. (I doubt it’s his given name.)
