We’ve all been through this. In fact we go through it every day. We all know how tough, but also funny, it can be, as we move through life’s situations if we take our knocks with good humor. And we know also how very rewarding it can be when we actually occasionally get things right.

Even if they do give some to the pets, they probably shouldn’t give them much. I’ve seen dogs get the runs from turkey and make quite a mess.

Not healthy to give cooked human food to animals.

@
… no doubt on that.

Not terribly unhealthy, either… as long as the humans are careful….

Roasted… no brine, is best. No skin.

@Bailey
… I guess that would be a “no briner” though… right?

Funny you should say that. This is in fact what happened to Mitt’s dog Seamus when it was transported on top of a car. Ann said the dog ate turkey off the dinner table and then got loose bowels. Mitt magnanimously hosed the dog off, tossed it back on top of the roof and continued on. This kind of ability for decisive action is what we need from someone running our country!

1. our vet said not to give my girl (volunteer assistance dog- started doing things then got training to do more) meat. Said it could give her pancreatitis and kill her. One of my aunt’s dogs died of that (though not from eating meat) so we’re being careful, chopping up 1 TBSP fine. You can freeze leftover turkey- we used to to make casseroles later in the winter. But you should do it soon after first cooking the thing, not wait.
