depends upon the era. For example, when I was in junior high, rock was still the standard and some of it like ELO (their last real album was when I was in high school in 1986. Zoom wasn’t up to their prior standard.) was pretty good..Unfortunately Hate Music like Rap was getting going in the mid 80s. I thought it was junk then and still do..I still don’t like country because it has about 3 songs—
the ballad (he lived, he died, he loved, he cried, and the audience fell asleep because they’ve heard it all before),
the sad song (waaaa. everybody’s hurt me baaaad),
and the gonna get even song (waaa. I hate those that hurt meeee. Get the bulldozer) — with endless redos on those themes..Same reason I don’t like modern “praise music” with 3 chords and endless repeats of non-Biblical phrases or Bible phrases out of context.
To make the point on the latter, in one of my books, I was analyzing praise music and used two pages of repeats of the same phrase. While exaggerated, it wasn’t that much of an exaggeration.
