Ah yes, winter clothing. You wear so much of it you can not lower your arms.

Pfffft - sissy. She should try riding a motorcycle in this weather, and layer so she doesn’t freeze!

“Permission to leave”? Heck, it never got MY permission to come in the first place…

I can relate to that! 3 years in Maine, including a major blizzard. Winter always seemed to start early and end late.
And even worse, in 8th grade music class, the girls always wanted to sing, “Let it Snow” ARRRRGGGGHHHH! NOOOOOOO! (After Maine, my family moved to Southern California)

I guess Nate from the strip “Overboard” isn’t the only person
with wintertime issues.

Been there, done that for too many years. Actully brought home two brand new bikes in the snow. Only problem I ever had was once I parked my work bike (messenger svc in DC) next to a snow bank and when I set my foot into it there was a dropoff there. Got my left leg pinned between the left jug of my Beemer and the ground. Fortunately a good citizen helped get the bike up off of me.

I’m with ya Danae, tired of working outside in near zero temps, wearing 8 layers of clothes, although the horses seem to like it just fine.

I loved winter, snow and all, until last year. A big SUV slid out in front of me and totaled my Honda. Two weeks later I slipped off my back porch and broke my wrist. No bad luck this year but I’m still ready for the slippy stuff to go away.

Winter too is a relative thing. After two weeks of 20 below, 20 above is like a walk in the park.
GuntotingLiberal said, 9 months ago
I always feel this way come February. More so this year… very tired of cold after a month of -20c. My husband can sympathize with you Doc, last month he slipped down the couple stairs of the front porch… ironically, while trying to salt them. He had a bruise the size of a flapjack on one buttock for three weeks.

Mr. Miller needs to print this comic on a sweatshirt (cafepress, anyone?) so winter-hating people like me can buy one and proudly wear our sentiments! (or has that been done already?)

Yes, one part of you longs for their visit, but in reality upon arrival you begin thinking about departure.

It hasn’t snowed ONCE down here this year!!! This weekend it was 62 degrees on Saturday and 65 degrees on Sunday! I HATE IT! I’ve told my husband that if this keeps up, we’re taking winter vacations instead of summer ones. bah!
LeonardWatson said, 9 months ago
Better winter than summer! All too soon it will be an inferno outside with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s.
Anyday over 65 dgrees is too hot thank God for winter when it is actually nice enough to be outside and enjoying nature.
At least in the winter you can always wear more layers. In the summer you are limited to just how much you can take off.

I know just how y’all feel. A cold northerner hit Hawaii last week and I had to layer my swimming trunks.

If I were Winter and she yelled at me like that there would be an early Spring flood! :-D
Wildmustang1262 said, 9 months ago
Tsk, tsk, Danae, be patient. There will have five more weeks to go and then Spring will come pretty soon.
I love the way Danae steamed up with that skull above her head. LOLs!
Jackone says: Hang in there,Danae. Only 5 more weeks to go. lol
I almost say “five weeks” but I tweak my sentence to post on the comment. ;-] wink! lols!
I have flurries in Reno/Sparks areas. sigh! We need more water in NV. Last week we had so dry and warm Now the rain/snow came already. Whew! It’s Mother Nature’s works!

The south-eastern states of Australia have been having very dry, very hot (40C - 104F) days for weeks now. We can’t wait for winter to arrive (18-20C - 64-68F), so we can cool down. Could use some of your snow and rain, too. Last count, 170 people dead in Victoria’s bushfires. Please, enjoy it while you’ve got it.

Please, anyone, tell me - why is today’s cartoon funny. It seems like everyone thinks this is SO funny. Why? A little girl walks in the house and says “Winter has her permission to leave.” The dad say, “I’ll alert the media” How the heck is that SOOOOO funny that 34 people comment and 11 favorite the cartoon????
It sounds like some of these comics are getting comedy bailouts.
peterkeenan said, 9 months ago
Thanks, Iowaweav. Lots of reports of generosity here, towards people who have lost everything. During the tsunami appeals a couple of years ago the Red Cross ended up telling us all that they didn’t want more money! We all hope the same thing happens here in the next few weeks.

I heard that 173 more died from mass fire storm. That must be horribly tragic. I don’t understand why those people escaped from their homes while the fire engulfed all of their houses down to the ground. Keep telling them to get out of their houses for their safety than perish (die) in their houses while the fire eat all of their houses for no resason. Sighhhh! :-[
