A fact-free comment. The cartoon said, ‘Yesterday’ and the US occupied Iraq for 7 years.

There was a long conflict between Sunni-controlled Iraq and Shia-controlled Iran. Bush, jr destroyed the Iraq government, so now the Shia control Iraq, Iran, and Syria.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar are Sunni states with a great deal to gain if the Syrian government is removed. Currently, for logistical reasons, Europe gets a lot of its fossil fuel from Russia. Qatar wants a pipeline through Syria and Turkey to deliver oil and gas and undercut Russia.

The gas field is located mostly under Iran, but Iran lacks the skill to exploit it. Qatar with Western help is pumping most of the gas that’s being extracted, and, with the pipeline and Western help, will extract and sell most of the gas before Iran can get it out and sell it to China. So Iran is currently supporting the Syrian government, just as Qatar and Saudi Arabia are trying to topple it, and Europe wants the US to help Qatar and Saudi Arabian mercenaries remove the Shia government of Syria so Europe will get cheaper and more reliable oil and gas than they’re currently getting from Russia.

All sides are lying, and there’s no way to know What is Truth.

As to the topic of the toon.

The same people who were against any involvement in Iraq and now only to eager to support Obama’s plan of attack.

Fortunately, cooler heads have prevailed (Russian…go figure) and Assad will release control of these weapons to an outside authority.

And the hubbub the result of …… greed.

Actually, panel one should read; “My esteemed constituents have told me that they will kick my fat politician ass to the curb if I get us involved in ANOTHER endless Quagmire like Bush did, so since my job is the single MOST important thing to me, I’ll more then likely vote no to save my butt!”

Wow. Not only are you too stupid to know that the word “Yesterday” has more than one meaning, you are too stupid to even look it up.

Yesterday’s Libs: Why, OJ got a fair trial and the evidence clearly showed his pure as the white driven snow innocence of killing Nicole.

I think you have misunderstood Michael’s post. He knows the meanings of “yesterday”, and he was using the one which means “some time in the past, not today”, in order to make the point that “yesterday” the US was an occupying force in Iraq, even if it isn’t today. At least that’s how I understood him.

No, that’s the meaning the cartoonist was using and Michael faulted him for it.
