Or the imaginary enforcement of the current immigration laws.

The memory of Pres. Reagan introducing the Amnesty bill in the 70’s is still very strong. It was to be a one time event and then the legislature was going to pass laws that would make it difficult or impossible for illegals to find work within US borders.
Within a few years, the Rs and Ds had weakened the legislation to a point of near uselessness. Employers who depended on illegals, employers in meat processing and farming and construction, convinced their legislators to ‘protect the borders’ but allow those who crossed to stay and work without benefits, protections, or opportunity to stay in the nation employing them.
If the current batch of legislators (from both parties) remain true to patterns, the bill they pass will not only be filled with tripe that has NOTHING to do with immigration, but will also lay the foundation for having to do this again in another twenty years.
The ONLY way to prevent illegal aliens from finding work in the USA is to punish those who hire them.
As far as Mr. Cruz goes, he is another right of the right fringe whose public appearances indicate a man lacking compassion, long sight, and the sense of knowledge of US history that insulates him from making decisions that benefit majorities while protecting minorities.
If our Constitution is to promote the “Common Good”, Mr. Cruz’s definition of what is ‘good’ seems to be in conflict with that document. Sadly, he is counterbalanced by the left of left fringe policies being set in the forefront by Mr. Reid and his ilk.
Our Democratic republic has become an oligarchy. No matter what the two parties tell us during elections, the result is two entities vying for a majority and whose only true bipartisan goal is to keep Americans divided against each other while preventing the formation of any third or fourth parties.
    Respectfully,
    C.

Ronald Reagan was not President in the 1970’s, he was President in The 1980’s, and yes he gave Blanket Amnesty to all Illegal Aliens beginning in 1987 as long as they have lived here for 10 years. Stupid move on his part.

If you’re going to post facts, get the Decade correct for when the President Served.

Nixon served from 1969 to 1974
Ford served from 1974 to 1977

Carter served from 1977 to 1981 when Reagan became President

When man lives in fear, he erects fences, the greater the fear, the higher the fence.

Thank you Tigger. I turned 18 in 1976 and missed the chance to vote until Reagan ran in the next election. A mistake like that can discredit an entire post so I am grateful you corrected me on that. Need to finish that first cup of coffee before posting.
    Gratefully,

not sure when we have so many jobless people why would we want more people here to take the jobs that we have

The people that are here ILLEGALLY didn’t immigrate, they ran across the border. Ted Cruz is not the problem, it is the people that choose to ignore our laws (and that includes the Democrats).

Cruz is correct. Obama is the biggest obstacle. He’s being sued by ICE agents for holding up deportations.
