It’s clear that not all opinions about science are equally worthy; it takes a lot of education and experience to be able to judge a scientific argument. What about aesthetic opinions? Is every aesthetic judgment equally worthy? Is “The Walking Dead” just as good as “Hamlet”? Or does it take education and experience to evaluate works of art, just as it takes education and experience to evaluate scientific arguments? Clearly the schools should try to improve the students’ scientific judgment; should the school also try to improve students’ aesthetic judgment?
