I love The Onion on this…“Rich white men have Latino do their dirty work.”

How pathetic we have become when it’s considered a big deal when some windy politician sneaks in a drink of water during his speech.

They released the details of this 100% predictable “response” hours before it was made. It’s amazing to me that people would even watch it. Did they think he was going to say something NEW, or even actually respond to Obama? Nope. He just read the same script again.

… But he’s hispanic, so … uh … “Taco burrito sombrero voto foro los Republicanos.”

Of course it’s predictable. The President writes his speech, gives a copy to the opposition. The opposition writes it’s speech. Both are released to “whomever” so everybody can get their talking points (synonym: lies) coordinated within their respective parties. Politics as usual.

I’m not surprised that Rubio needed a drink of water, but I am surprised (a) that they didn’t have it easily accessible for him, and (b) that they didn’t do a retake.

To have any class, they should also have put the water in a glass.

The humor is not in needing a sip of water, it is in the Rs seeming capable of screwing up just about every opportunity they get.

Rubio’s parents “legally” immigrated to the US in 1956. Were “legally” granted residency at the time. There was no “political asylum” asked for or granted. Just plain old boring normal LEGAL immigration.

How do I know that for a fact? Because of the uproar from liberals about the story Marco told to gain political advantage about his heritage. Did he LIE? Looks like it but it could be as he explained. He gave an accounting that he remembered from family stories as he grew up. Still, he was born here in Florida in 1971 (makes him a natural citizen) to LEGAL immigrants of Cuban origin.

You should have looked up the facts there Harly. But yes Legal IS Legal.

I read that one as well before. Bottom line, the Rubio’s – while making a wise decision and leaving a failing government under attack from various groups and an intolerable situation – were ordinary Cuban LEGAL immigrants. NOT “refugees” from a communist revolutionary dictatorship that floated over on a tire raft and claimed “dry foot” political asylum status.

You do understand the “they” that fled to Mexico were the “revolutionaries” including Castro, right?

Though I’m left of center, I appreciated the peaceful way Mr. Rubio put forth his ideas (and they are much to be respected). I chuckled at the drink he took, as it just seemed a bit funny… also, I have to keep reminding myself to drink enough water… in fact, think I’ll have a drink right now!
