Sure, none of what I mentioned are your “constitutional rights”, runar.
So I do have a question: are there not qualifications that one must meet before they can invoke such a right.I will answer that for you: YES. Are you required to be a certain age to vote? YES, 18 years of age. To verify this requirement is met, a proof of age would be necessary. Are you required to be a citizen of this country to vote? YES.To verify this requirement a proof of identity is necesssary. Can you vote more than once in the same election? NO. Again, a proof of identity is required to verify you are who you say you are. The reason these requirements are in place is in order to protect the votes of those who are eligible to vote. Those who vote and are not eligible or those who vote multiple times diminish the value of the votes of those who do qualify and are playing by the rules. So few cases of voter fraud? Well, first, we know that not everybody gets caught regardless of the crime so those who are caught are only a portion of those who are doing it.Second, since I am sure the main desire is to keep this process honest, isn’t an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure?Sure, it isn’t fool-proof. However, as long as states are willing to provide photo IDs to those who cannot afford them there is no reason why a legitimate voter would not be able to vote.
