Churchill,
A government mandate is a law, and laws are the foundation of a free society, as contradictory as that may sound.
Without a law against GM food, there is evidence that it contaminates the entire food supply…so I end up eating GM food, whether I want it or not…just as freedom from all those pollutants raining down on organic food is not currently possible.
I would like laws, and funding to uphold the laws to keep my food supply safe. I find the characterization of people who want safe and healthy food, water and air for themselves and their families, as ‘environmental wackos’ pushing a ‘liberal agenda’ rather strange. Are you saying that conservatives are happy with kids whose brains are scrambled, shrinking male genitals, increasing obesity, and dying ecosystems? What’s conservative about that?
