You've gotta give it up for shrimp. The decapod crustaceans are basically underwater bugs and sometimes you can see their guts straight through their translucent carapaces, but their many edible varieties are perhaps the butteriest source of 35% of your daily recommended zinc.

Even if you don't partake of the prawny pals yourself, shrimp have an impressive portfolio of food web relationships in both fresh and seawater. Did you know a ton of shrimp are parasites or symbiotes on other animals? The next shrimp you see may have dined principally on fish boogers. Delicious!

Happy Shrimp Day!
