Of course the point of reincarnation is to get it right on Earth. The fewer the better. And if you know you don’t need to reincarnate but do so anyway to help others is doubly good. That includes helping those who are suffering from bad karma since that too helps you and them. You don’t and you will get bad karma the next time around and lower your good karma you have already accumulated.

What’s crazy is that historically buddhists and hindu monists believe that if you help the poor that it is hurting them by preventing them from working off their bad karma. A not-so-great excuse for doing nothing to help others.

There once was a fellow who asked to be reincarnated as a real stud. He ended up on a snow tire in Montana…

I don’t believe in reincarnation. I did at one time, but that was in a previous life.

That’s why we should help them to improve their life quality. By teaching them how to catch a fish instead of giving them the fish already catch.

I would think helping others improves not just your karma, but theirs as well by teaching them how to be good.

It is supposed to be “karma”, not “dharma”. Dharma is the teachings of the Buddha. Karma is what you earn through each life. (Yes I’m a Buddhist. How could you tell?)
BTW our strip character, Karma, is actually shown as more of a Taoist. But combo.

    Hey Justin,

Just a quick note to let you know I am still in awe of your cartooning prowess! Brilliant stuff as usual… and, though great appreciated, of greater worth than I deserve!

    Keep up the wonderful work.

In context, the intended meaning is ambiguous. “Dharma” may yet be acceptable.

No they don’t. Otherwise they are not following th Buddhist way. Not that I would expect a Christian hard liner to be correct on that. It is just unworkable and yes, stupid and venal. Something Buddhism isn’t.
