Simple. I may look like one, but if you say so out loud, you’ll experience the other.

ANSWER: When dead things are warm, they ROT. Then they start looking, and smelling, a whole lot worse than just plain ol’ dead.!

Right you are. Back in the museum days people would bring me rotting roadkill. “Feel how fresh it is — it’s still warm!”

Death warmed over is what ya feel like after a 3 day “vacation” in Las Vegas. Thank God I am sober now so I no longer have to experience the “death warmed over” feeling, however, I do still get hit with “instant Karma” occasionally. ;:^)

I used to work with endangered species. What time a year a critter dies makes a lot of difference.
High summer smells a lot worse than fall or spring.
About a decade ago, the freezer where the Salmon and Scott Ranger Districts kept their fish samples quit working during a week of 110 degree heat. It was in a locked shed and it was several days before anyone went in there.

There were rivulets of “stuff” leaking out of the freezer.
