    Unfortunately, the sort of pumpkins that are bred for carving tend to be watery and tasteless.

    They’re good for seeds, though! Pumpkin seeds are great!

    Love it! I for one would love to see Randall put on top of a scarecrow’s body and made into a recurring character, like the embodiment of Entropy. But then, I’m probably overthinking a great gag panel. :)

    @Al

    The big carving pumpkins are not very sweet and too stringy and woody to make decent pie. It’s better to use the small sweet “Sugar Pie” pumpkins.

    perhaps, although I have had pretty good luck myself. Been doing the baking thing for upwards of 50 years and no complaints as well as people going back for seconds which I consider the ultimate compliment anyway.

    I once told my mother that ‘this’ was the best punkin’ pie she had ever made. She told that she hadn’t made a punkin pie in twenty years and that what I was eating was in fact a sweet potato pie.
    .
    The punch line here is that up to that time I loathed sweet potatos. Been eating sweet potatos ever since.
