Although, oddly, Norm’s coloring was originally supposed to be based on Squidward, which would have been even sloser to Perry. Rex was supposed to be dark emerald green, and Max was supposed to be tan/beige. Also, Bridget’s hair was supposed to be light brown. King Features wanted a bunch of options for the coloring, so I did a bunch of samples where I colored that characters based on diffrent kids shows I liked. So, with out knowing it, they picked Norm, with Squidwrds colors, Jeff with Fozzie Bear’s colors, Maureen with Miss Piggy’s and I forget teh rest. Bengal was actually left white by mistake and everyone loved it, so we kept it.

Odd to see “Max” spoken by a boss to an employee in this comic, tho I certainly know why.

Oh, and about today’s strip, with regards to the last panel, I pitched ‘My Cage’ under the name ‘Not-So-Wild Life’, which I still love as a name. When we got closer to print though, I found out everyone else who was working on it hated that name except for me. :D

Oh, and if you notice….our Max is a wolf wearing a human suit. Sorry I’m so chatty today. My kids actually slept late for once, so I’m feeling awake for once. :D

I noticed the human suit. :) Very fun details about the colouring choices for the characters! I don’t think you had said so before. Maureen as Miss Piggy… well, I wouldn’t want to piss off either. :)

Never apologize for talking us up! It is great to find out about those back ground snippets of hidden history.

I notice that Norm is recasting all these known franchises like “Where The Wild Things Are” & “OZ” in his present milieu of being in an office bored and not getting any close to his real dream.

Wow, that’s kind of creepy, yet interesting :3
Also, I’ve got to compliment you emulating Maurice Sendak’s art, you did it perfect :D (Or Melissa? Whoever drew it, it looks awesome)
