Fun for the whole family :). Like the original fairy tales before they got warped by Disney.

Clearly based on the Funky Winkerbean arc where Lisa lost her battle with cancer. I had forgotten how well done this tribute was. Kudos Ed and Melissa.

Jeff’s son is playing Masky McDeath, a take-off of the Funky Winkerbean characterization of Death (see here for a look at that character).

Don’tcha just love how the most depressing comic had the goofiest title?

Well…Funky Winkerbean was goofy and fun once upon a time. Batiuk (the cartoonist) just kept the same name when he changed the theme to gloom and failure and death and hopelessness.

Here comes Mr. Black! Death personified. Care to play some chess for you soul?

You must not read it much since both characterizations are simplified and simplistic. Both strips encompasse both as we have in life plus many more of the nuances of life.
