Who wrote this particular strip: Bud Fisher or Al Smith?

Be nice to him, Jeff, he’s your boss.

Fisher died in 1954, Smith had been drawing the strip since 1932. Pierre de Beaumont’s name turns up – he was Fisher’s stepson & owned the strip after Fisher died. He wasn’t a cartoonist but he DID found the Brookstone store chain.

Isn’t the insignificant signature Al-obamas?!

From the nature of your commentary on this site, I would say yours is pretty insignificant
I doubt many people come down under the bridge and ask for it, though

Reminds me of my favorite Al Smith story. Once while campaigning Smith was heckled by a fellow who shouted, “Tell ’em all you know Al, it will only take a minute.” Smith replied, “I’ll tell ‘em all we both know. It won’t take any longer.”
Al Smith was also the name of an outfielder for the Chicago White Sox, who very famously got hit in the face with a cup of beer in the 1959 World Series vs. the Dodgers, as a ball soared over his head into the stands, and an excited fan let go of his cup, as he tried to catch the home run. Good thing the beer came in a cup, not a can or bottle.

Oh Lord, even after the elections we can’t get away from politics. Can’t we just leave that to the editorials?

This is what happens when the cartoonist runs out of ideas.

Or as Jimmy Durante would’ve said “Everybody wants to get into de act … Umbriago!” ☺
