Reformist approaches, though misguided, have traction because most people don’t grasp how the system actually works, and that it’s structurally unreformable. They don’t recognize it as the absolute enemy that it is.

How about this:
The USA has done more to this world than any other Nation on earth!

Capitalism recognizes men are evil & accounts for it. You cab only get ahead by serving your fellow man.
Other systems pretend men aren’t evil. A wise & benevolent ruler/ruling class/bureaucracy will guide us to utopia.
Historically, how have either proposition worked out?
Oh yeah, I remember: The systems that edged toward the former theory are the ONLY ones that have EVER ever increased the general welfare.

Now there’s an argument!
May I quote you?

And the howlers keep on coming…
“Capitalism recognizes men are evil & accounts for it.”
How can anyone square this statement of faith with global climate change, financial meltdowns, jobless “recoveries”, growing concentration of wealth, etc. etc. etc.
The best thing you can say about unregulated capitalism is that it doesn’t care whether men (or women) are evil or not. Reading the newspaper leads me to wonder whether it doesn’t actually promote evil.
Now, I don’t buy Ms McMillan’s revolutionary rhetoric. I don’t want to tear things down only to discover that the cure turns out to be worse than the disease. But you’d have to be willfully blind to think that unregulated capitalism promotes ethical behaviour.

Cut me a little slack, please. It’s a comic strip discussion.
I didn’t mean for you to infer completely unregulated, I.e., without the legitimate function of government of making sure the rich & powerfuls’ freedoms stops before they reaches your & my noses. Including crony-capitalism.

The one thing the Plutocrats are worried about are us the “peons” as Citibank called us in some infamous memos called us.

Capitalism must be balanced by Socialism as Socialism must be balanced by Capitalism’s greed.

I think everyone the does NOT want new oil wells, transmission lines, power plants and engineered crops should submit their names to the government. Then we would with-hold those things from them and we would not need all the new means of generating and transmitting energy and food. Thusly saving the world. Also in a while they would die off and the world would be less populated, saving the world.

I wonder how many anti-capitalists have lived in anti-capitalist countries? And if so, why are they living in America when there are countries that they like so much better?
