The problem with Detroit is that someone did a study years ago and stated that it is a perfect place to build automobiles… of cource the person paying for it was from Dearborn and the answer was clearly biased so he did have to move his family…
Detroit is a natural trading port..why beause it on the Great Lakes system.
If there is any manufacturing know-how left …Build and maintain Ships, boats, and Barges to rival the rail road systems, not automobiles.
All of the water from three of the biggest Great Lakes flow through the river next to the city…
Build water turbines and Hydro-vortex unit to generate electricity… stop spending all the tax money on the welfare state and invest in job creating technology..

Orr had two liens on his Maryland home so he sounds like a great one to get things in order in Detroit.
Of course the Governor’s main aim in appointing an emergency manager is to disenfranchise black residents.

And the U.S. is still a democracy how? With the rights given to these “emergency” managers you look like a banana republic more and more every day…

@MortyForTyrant
As far as I know only Michigan has this type of emergency managers.
Other states have them for short times after hurricanes and floods.
This guy is going to make $275,000 a year and is expected to be there 18 months or more.
Apparently the voters rejected the law on the ballot by 52% and then the lame duck legislature passed the law allowing the Governor to appoint this manager.
BTW Orr was making $700 an hour during the Chrysler bankruptcy deal and is responsible for closing those Chrysler dealerships.

Michigan’s governor doesn’t run a democracy in his state. He is a small time (so far) dictator.
Isn’t rejecting Democracy treason or something?
I don’t know how he gets away with it.
There are quite a few politicians, (Bushes lament) who really don’t believe in it here, but try to force it on other nations.
It would be good if they were, but in the 40’s and 50’s our own government toppled many south American democracies, like Chile’s Pinochet.,
